A "Green" Christmas

We did Christmas at Dad's early this year. We had dinner in the restuarant Saturday night. It was of course delicious! We did not go on our annual "parking lot" gift searching extravaganza this year. I was quite disappointed, but it's just something to forward to for next year. For those who have not idea what I am talking about, let me explain....

Each year we load up into some vehicle, usually the RV, and head over to the mall. Now this is NOT until AFTER the mall closes. Oh yes, this is much later around midnight or so. We begin our expedition usually in the lot, yes parking lot, of a large department store. This is when the search begins. It depends on the item as to who the lucky receiver of the gift might be. Sometimes we just choose a person and then the gift is a surprise! It could be a dirty diaper, a broken pair of sunglasses, and even better a used maxi pad..... Don't worry we DO NOT touch these items.
Anyway, we have many many many laughs and head back home to sleep it off. It is one of the most fun things I do with my family. It is crazy, but you just have to know us. It is loads of fun!
We had a wonderful time this year. We even shot fireworks in the middle of the day (that is just my daddy for ya!). The kids loved opening their gifts and we had a wonderful breakfast together. It's such a unique Christmas. My children are extremely blessed to have four sets of grandparents. As a child it was hard not having my parents together at times, but all in all, we are so loved and have more than anyone could ask for. Each of our parents are so different. Each have their own special traditions, personalities, and special moments. We are so thankful.
